What is a roof access hatch?
A roof access hatch is an opening in the roof that provides safe access for maintenance, inspection, and service of rooftop equipment.

Where are roof access hatches used?
They are used in residential buildings, offices, commercial properties, and industrial facilities where regular roof access is required.

Is a roof access hatch the same as a smoke vent?
No. A roof access hatch is used for access, while a smoke vent is used for smoke and heat extraction in case of fire. Some products combine both functions.

What size roof access hatch do I need?
The size depends on the application, but it should allow safe and easy access for a person and any required equipment.

Where should a roof access hatch be installed?
Typically above stairwells or technical rooms, where safe and practical roof access is needed.

Can you walk on a roof hatch?
Only if it is designed as a walk-on roof hatch. Not all models are suitable for foot traffic.

Do you need a ladder for a roof access hatch?
Yes, a fixed ladder is usually required to ensure safe access to and from the roof.

Can roof access hatches be installed on pitched roofs?
Yes, many models are suitable for both flat and pitched roofs, depending on design and specifications.

Do roof access hatches require maintenance?
Yes. Regular inspection of hinges, seals, gas springs, and locking systems is recommended.

Can roof access hatches be customised?
Yes, most roof access hatches can be made to measure and customised in size, material, and colour
