How Does a Smoke Vent Hatch Work?
A smoke vent hatch is designed to quickly release smoke and heat during a fire. When the SEV hatch opens, it creates a vertical ventilation opening that allows smoke to rise and escape the building. This improves visibility in escape routes, facilitates emergency response, and can prevent the building’s load-bearing structures from overheating. The hatch can be activated:
-
Automatically via fire alarm or smoke detector
-
Manually using a push button or emergency opener
