About Visedge

Visedge is a specially designed, tightly sealing aluminium floor hatch for plastic and linoleum floors in environments with high hygiene requirements. The flooring is bonded directly to the hatch lid, creating a seamless, flush surface that eliminates raised edges, moisture damage, or wear at the transition between hatch and floor. The lid and frame are securely fixed, and an integrated gasket ensures effective sealing, making Visedge maintenance-free and durable. It is an ideal solution for hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, laboratories, and other public buildings where hygiene, durability, and safety are critical.

What is a floor access cover?
A floor access cover is an openable hatch in the floor that provides safe and convenient access to hidden installations such as electrical wiring, plumbing, IT/network cables, and technical equipment beneath the floor.

Where are floor access covers used?
Floor access covers are installed in residential buildings, hospitals, schools, offices, public buildings, and technical rooms where regular access to utilities or equipment is required.

Which floor access cover is suitable for hygienic environments?
For hospitals, laboratories, and other high-hygiene areas, the cover should be:

  • Compatible with plastic or linoleum flooring
  • Seamless and flush with the floor surface
  • Easy to clean
  • Designed to minimize dirt, moisture, and liquid penetration

Can floor access covers be installed with plastic or linoleum flooring?
Yes, certain floor access covers allow the flooring to be bonded directly to the lid, creating a flush, hygienic, and maintenance-free solution. This is ideal for healthcare, schools, and laboratory environments.

What load can a floor access cover handle?
Load depends on the classification:

  • FACTA A – pedestrian traffic (offices, schools, hospitals)
  • FACTA B–F – heavier loads (carts, forklifts, vehicles)
Covers can also be rated according to EN 124 depending on the product and application.

Are floor access covers waterproof?
Most are not fully waterproof. Many are designed to limit dirt and minor liquid penetration. Fully watertight solutions require special designs.

What should I consider when choosing a floor access cover?
Key factors include:

  • Load class (pedestrian or vehicle traffic)
  • Floor type (plastic, linoleum, tile)
  • Hygiene requirements
  • Sealing and tightness
  • Size, customization, and accessibility

Can floor access covers have gas spring assistance?
Yes, many models can be equipped with gas springs for smoother, easier opening. Example: HSE 75
