The SEFAC ground access hatch is a robust lid system with a frame, manufactured in stainless steel, hot-dip galvanized steel, or aluminum. It is designed for environments with high demands on durability, safety, and flexibility, and is ideal for installation in shafts, escape routes, culverts, shelters, maintenance openings, and service passages.

The ground access hatch can be customized in any dimensions and surface finishes, making it easy to adapt to the aesthetic and functional requirements of its surroundings. SEFAC is also approved for smoke ventilation in case of fire.

  • Lid: Must be concrete-filled at the base for increased load distribution and stability (performed by the customer). Can then be clad with any desired material

  • Load Class: A15 kN (SEFAC FL), B125 kN (SEFAC FM), C250 kN (SEFAC FH) according to EN 124

  • Opening Method: Lid opens manually from above
  • Smoke Ventilation: Approved for fire smoke evacuation

  • Installation should be performed by qualified personnel and adapted to the project’s conditions
  • The concrete lip must be cast both from below and above to ensure secure and durable fixation

Operation & Maintenance

  • Before operating the unit, ensure there are no obstacles in the lid’s movement path
  • The ground access hatch should be opened and cleaned at least once a year, using clean water and a mild cleaning agent with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaning products
  • Ensure that the gap between the lid and frame is free from gravel and dust
