About Classic
The Classic series offers a wide range of floor access covers suitable for everything from light pedestrian traffic to heavily loaded industrial environments. With models across multiple load classes, it’s easy to select the right solution for any project requirement.
All covers are custom-made and can be discreetly integrated into the floor with a variety of surface finishes, including wood, tile, stone, or concrete. The construction ensures safe, smooth, and long-term access to installations beneath the floor without compromising on function or aesthetics.
The Classic series is used in commercial buildings, public spaces, logistics areas, garages, and industrial facilities where durability, accessibility, and reliability are critical. For projects with specific safety requirements, selected models such as Classic 7500 and 1050 can be supplied fire-rated up to E120, with EI60 available depending on configuration.
Thanks to the option to fill the covers with any type of flooring, they integrate seamlessly into both modern and classic interiors – from offices and shopping centers to hospitals, schools, and industrial sites.
With multiple frame depths and load classes, the Classic series can be adapted for everything from pedestrian traffic to vehicle and heavy loads. Whether for technical rooms, service shafts, or hidden access to underfloor systems, there is a Classic cover to meet every requirement.

To ensure optimal function and longevity, the ground access cover should be maintained regularly:
- Ensure the opening is free of obstacles before use
- Clean at least once a year with water and mild detergent
- Avoid abrasive cleaning products
- Keep the space between lid and frame free of dirt and debris
What is a floor access cover and what is it used for?
A floor access cover is an openable hatch in the floor that provides access to installations such as electrical wiring, plumbing, drains, and cabling. It is used for service, maintenance, and inspection in both private and public spaces.
Which floor access cover should I choose?
Choosing the right cover depends on several factors:
- Load capacity (pedestrian traffic or vehicles)
- Floor type (tile, concrete, wood, plastic)
- Environment (indoor or outdoor)
- Requirements for sealing, safety, and aesthetics
Selecting the appropriate model ensures both functionality and long-term durability.
What types of floor access covers are available?
Depending on the application, there are:
- Hinged access covers
- Liftable covers
- Modular covers for larger areas
- Heavy-duty ground covers for traffic
- Discreet covers for stone or tiled floors
How much weight can a floor access cover support?
Covers are classified according to load, for example using EN 124 or FACTA:
- Light traffic: pedestrian areas, indoor spaces
- Medium traffic: carts, light vehicle traffic
- Heavy traffic: trucks, industrial sites, airports
Selecting the correct load class is critical for safety.
Can tiles or other flooring be applied to a floor access cover?
Yes. Many covers can be filled with floor materials such as tile, concrete, wood, or stone, allowing the cover to blend seamlessly into the floor.
Are floor access covers suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. Outdoor covers are designed to withstand weather, dirt, and loads, and are made from robust materials.
Are floor access covers waterproof?
Most covers are not fully waterproof by default, but they are designed to limit water and dirt penetration. Fully watertight solutions require custom designs.
Do floor access covers require maintenance?
Yes. Regular maintenance ensures proper function and longevity, including:
- Cleaning frames and seals
- Inspecting hinges and locks
- Lubricating moving parts
Can floor access covers be equipped with gas springs?
Yes. Many covers can be fitted with gas springs, making them easier to open and reducing physical strain, especially for frequently used covers.
Where are floor access covers used?
Floor access covers are used in a wide range of environments:
- Technical rooms and service areas
- Public buildings and facilities
- Industrial and warehouse sites
- Airports and terminals
- Residential and commercial buildings
What should be considered when installing a floor access cover?
When installing a cover, it is important to:
- Adapt the cover to the floor structure
- Ensure proper anchoring and fastening
- Select the correct load class
- Consider fire safety and regulatory requirements
