What Is an Inspection Hatch Used For?
An inspection hatch allows easy access to installations hidden behind walls—such as pipes, valves, electrical wiring, or junction boxes. It’s a smart solution for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs without needing to demolish parts of the wall.
Advantages of Inspection Hatches
– Service-friendly – quick access to technical installations
– Discreet – blends into wall or ceiling finishes
– Secure – can be equipped with various lock options
– Time-saving – eliminates the need for destructive work during service
Typical Applications
– Bathrooms and laundry rooms
– Electrical panels and cable ducts
– Technical systems in public buildings
– Commercial premises with concealed installations
– HVAC and plumbing systems within walls
Materials and Design
We offer various access panel models with gypsum inlays, steel finishes, tile-ready surfaces, or pre-painted options. The panels can be installed in walls or ceilings, adapted to wall thickness, and suited to the installation environment.
Regulations & Recommendations
The installation of inspection panels is subject to Swedish Building Regulations (BBR), especially in fire-rated or moisture-sensitive areas.
Key considerations:
– Fire classification: EI30 / EI60 or higher in fire compartment walls
– Moisture classification: Moisture-resistant and approved by GVK or Säker Vatten
– Accessibility: The hatch must be easy to reach and not obstructed by furniture or fixtures
